| COACHELLA VALLEY RESCUE MISSION |
Indio, CA | |
In operation since 1971, the Coachella Valley Rescue Mission (CVRM) is a homeless shelter serving "the least, the last, and the lost." Operating on a 1/2 acre in about 9,000sf for the last 37 years, the CVRM hired The Art Office in association with Martinez-Kuch Architects to design a new, cutting edge 35,000sf facility, including a new chapel, cafeteria, study center, and health and counseling offices, that will support the new men's shelter and the new women's and family shelter. A large interior courtyard provides unity, fresh air, light, natural ventilation and beauty at the heart of the Mission. An 8200sf multi-purpose room is planned for Phase Two. On June 11, the Indio Planning Commission approved the Conditional Use Permit, Parcel Split, and Conceptual Design Drawings.
