| CYLINDERS |
||
The
Cylinders have been used for centuries as vessels for recording information.
From totem poles to wax cylinders to cylindrical map projections, the
cylindrical form has been used as a starting point or base from which
to record, understand, or disperse information. It is a pure form that,
typically, through the hand of a human, is manipulated to a new point
of specificity. The Cylinders here are members of a 27-piece tight-knit
family, each with their own story to tell and information to share.
Activated through natural and artificial light, their recorded information
disperses as one navigates around and amongst the pieces. Through their
particular geometrical and structural parameters, each piece acquires
its own character and sensibility. |
