John Farnum Studios worked with The Art Office to create a design and identity for the new 1000sf bar addition at Davey’s Hideaway, a long-time Palm Springs supper club. Conceived as a design/build project, the design’s main gesture is an undulating ceiling of dim LED's encased in translucent acrylic spheres that creates a never ending "starry night". This limitless ceiling is banded by 4" high undulating horizontal bands of mahogany with clips of mirror inserted to catch the subtle light of the space. Underlit boxes of polished steel highlight exotic and rare liquor bottles behind the bartender. Using the warm colors of deep reds, oranges and copper, the space seeks to create the comforts and distinctive qualities of a "neighborhood bar" for South Palm Springs.
