Inspired by the custom podium that TAO built for the Palm Springs Art Museum's Annenberg Theater, this dining room table base morphs from a concave rectangle at the base to an ellipse at the top. Designed to be a functional and sculptural piece, the form and its shell construction invite viewers to experience the play of light on the exterior and interior of the piece. Built from 30 layers of stacked 24mm plywood, each layer is different, yet cut with precision and consistency with the use of CNC technology. An elliptical piece of glass is used as the table top.
