Located
in Banning, CA on the south side of I-10 at the base of Mount San Jacinto,
this new alternative energy power plant is meant to mesh with its surroundings
through the a gradient of yellows and greens. Using 2' wide x up to
40' long polycarbonate panels, the color gradient represents the changing
colors of the surrounding grasses through all four seasons. The bronze
colored areas are inspired by the large rock formations that dot the
mountainside. This facade wraps the power plant on all four sides and,
through sunlight during the day and artificial lighting at night, will
transform and glow throughout the day.
